Restaurant Bedem

Restaurant Bedem is located right next to the northern side of the walls of the Old Town Varaždin, in Vladimira Nazora Street. This restaurant is managed by two renowned chefs, Anđelko Levanić and Zlatko Novak, both of whom are national champions in culinary arts and have received medals at culinary Olympiads and the World Culinary Cup. They are undoubtedly the most awarded culinary duo in Varaždin and Croatia.

The dishes they prepare are based on research of original local recipes, combined with the technical mastery and creative use of the finest ingredients, particularly local ones such as Vidovec cabbage, pumpkin seed oil, fresh vegetables, and Zagorje turkey. The restaurant places these ingredients in the spotlight, positioning them as creators and leaders of a new Varaždin cuisine, grounded in top-tier gastronomy principles, local traditions, and modern global food trends and techniques.

The venue consists of a main restaurant area located in a beautifully designed basement, a separate dining room upstairs, a glass-enclosed terrace offering a view of the castle’s walls, and two outdoor terraces, which, although not serving food, can be used for organizing events. The wine list features the best wines from the Varaždin region, and the restaurant has been awarded the Michelin Recommendation for three consecutive years.
