Restaurant Potkova

Located on the grounds of the Zagreb Hippodrome, just next to the Zagreb Fair and only a ten-minute drive from the city center, the Potkova Restaurant is a charming venue with a traditional ambiance. The open space and green surroundings contribute to a pleasant, homely atmosphere, guided by Twain’s quote, "Tastes are not born, they are created."

The restaurant has a capacity of 125 seats, spread across several connected spaces: the “Winter Garden” hall (70 seats), the Fireplace Room (30 seats), and the VIP salon (25 seats). Two covered outdoor terraces can accommodate around 80 guests (the larger one can hold about 50, and the smaller one around 30). Additionally, there is a cigar club with 15 seats. A small children’s playground is also available, and the restaurant has its own parking. It is one of the few restaurants where people with disabilities can access all areas directly from the parking lot.

The daily menu features traditional dishes from almost all regions of Croatia, prepared using traditional methods such as cooking, roasting, baking under a bell (peka), on a spit, or grilling over a wood fire. Special attention is paid to seasonal ingredients, ensuring the freshness of flavors and aromas in the dishes, as emphasized by the owner Nikola Štefanović.

In addition to a range of cured meats from selected farms (Istrian and Dalmatian prosciutto, Slavonian kulen, boškarin salami with truffles), the menu includes dishes made from pork, veal, local poultry, as well as fresh seafood, Istrian boškarin beef, foal, and game. The restaurant also offers “spoon dishes,” with a daily offering that includes the classic “grandma’s beef soup” and at least one seasonal stew. For pasta lovers, there are various types of traditional homemade pasta, from homemade noodles and trganac to fuži and green pljukanci.

A standout feature of the restaurant is its extensive wine cellar, which boasts over 200 high-quality wines from almost all Croatian wine regions. Around 30 of these wines are available by the glass.
