Restaurant Garestin

Restaurant Garestin is located along Varaždin's longest street, once called Dugi Konec (now Zagrebačka Street), an area tied to one of the most significant historical events that shaped the city's future. In 1776, a devastating fire broke out here, destroying half of the city in just three days and nights. Following the fire, the Croatian Ban moved to Zagreb, and Varaždin lost its status as the capital.

However, after every tragedy comes recovery. The city rebounded, and Dugi Konec grew longer once again. Along this road, just outside the city, there were several inns and resting places that served traditional, hearty meals — simple folk cuisine, roasts, and a place where people could always eat and drink well, but most importantly, abundantly. This tradition is continued today by Restaurant Garestin, named after the first written mention of Varaždin. The restaurant is housed in a historic building that once served as the home of one of Varaždin's most influential citizens, Professor Krešimir Filić.

The restaurant features a spacious courtyard terrace, beautifully arranged with flowers and greenery, offering an authentic, homely atmosphere. With a blend of experience and quality service, Restaurant Garestin offers a diverse menu of national and international specialties. With a seating capacity of 100 inside and 70 on the terrace, it is an ideal venue for both special occasions and individual visits.
