Flavors of Croatian Tradition is a joint project realized through a partnership between County - local Tourist Boards and the company DMK Vall 042, with the goal of enriching the tourist offer and developing new tourism products. The flavors and aromas of local cuisines, premium wines, beverages, and domestic agricultural products are now an essential component that determines the value and quality of the tourist offer of a particular area. This project focuses precisely on developing a tourist offer based on these assumptions. We view the offer in the field of eno-gastronomic tourism as a broader concept that unites agriculture, gastronomy, enology, and culture, making it an extremely important component of sustainable development in the community.
The main objective is to improve the offer of traditional local dishes, beverages, and products in the daily menu of hospitality establishments, thereby fostering a more comprehensive development of eno-gastronomic tourism.
The primary goal is the labeling and building of strong market recognition for hospitality establishments that uphold the Flavors standards and their identity as places that guarantee and provide an authentic experience of local dishes, beverages, and traditional domestic products.
The ultimate goal is to ensure the continuity and sustainability of quality offerings, achieve excellence and innovation in the use of traditional ingredients, and ultimately, to shape thematic restaurants—restaurants with tradition—that consistently offer a variety of typical local dishes, along with the opportunity for guests to actively participate in the selection and preparation of food and beverages.
The Flavors standard is essentially the construction of a common identity for the experience of local dishes, beverages, and products, with a promise to guests that a labeled establishment offers a daily selection of traditional dishes and beverages.
The criteria for awarding the standard are defined by the Regulations. The standard can be awarded to a hospitality establishment that has generally been in operation for at least three years and meets the established minimum conditions: that its daily menu includes at least two local traditional dishes and six beverage labels, of which at least four are wines, and that in the evaluation of the establishment (which is conducted in five categories: Food, Service, Beverage, Ambiance, Environment, each consisting of five criteria), it has achieved a minimum of 75 out of a maximum possible 100 points.
The standard can be established for the following types of establishments: tourist family farm, tasting room, ethno house, bistro, tavern, inn, restaurant, café, hotel. The bearer of the standard is marked with a standardized plaque containing the unique sign and logo, the local-regional name of the project in Croatian, and the text Flavors of Croatian Tradition in English.
