Announcing the 8th Days of Flavours of the Varaždin Region

Varaždin County Gains Recognition as a Culinary Destination with the 8th Days of Flavours

Varaždin County is becoming increasingly recognized as an attractive tourist destination year after year, with its rich food and wine offerings playing a key role in this growth – this was emphasized during the announcement of the 8th Days of Flavours of Varaždin County, which will take place from 4 to 13 April in 15 hospitality establishments certified with the “Flavours of the Varaždin Region” standard. During the event, these restaurants will showcase the wealth of tastes and aromas of the region through specially designed menus, using exclusively local and authentic ingredients.

“We are pleased that at the beginning of spring, our restaurants are once again bringing traditional flavours and aromas to life. Our goal is to preserve tradition through authentic ingredients while also offering guests modern culinary creations inspired by our rich gastronomic heritage,” said Goran Mališ, Director of the Varaždin County Tourist Board. He continued that the Days of Flavours are an excellent opportunity for both locals and visitors to enjoy top-quality dishes at promotional prices of €19 and €25 for a three-course menu.

The Days of Flavours are not just a gastronomic event – they are a testament to the strength of continental tourism and the successful branding of Varaždin County as a region that nurtures and promotes its traditions. The project, which began in Varaždin, now brings together 11 county tourist boards that recognize the importance of preserving and promoting local gastronomy. Visitors will be able to enjoy dishes prepared with Varaždin cabbage, Ludbreg horseradish, buckwheat, pumpkin oil, and other high-quality local ingredients. The long-term goal of the event is to ensure that every restaurant in Varaždin County offers at least a few dishes based on traditional local ingredients, added Borislav Šimenc, project manager of Flavours of Croatian Tradition.

The richness of Varaždin County in protected local products was also confirmed by Silvija Zagorec, Deputy Prefect of Varaždin County.

“Varaždin County is a destination where gastronomy is not only tasted but experienced. I am pleased to announce this event, which for the eighth consecutive year invites visitors to enjoy authentic culinary experiences. I am confident that each restaurant will offer its guests a unique journey through the history and tradition of Varaždin cuisine, combining time-tested recipes with our finest local ingredients,” concluded Deputy Prefect Zagorec, who presented the “Flavours of the Varaždin Region” standard certificate to Eugen Đurđek, owner of restaurant Geno, marking its inclusion in this commendable project.

The event will take place in the following restaurants: Arabela, August, Bedem, Bernarda, Geno, Grešna pilnica, Hotel Trakošćan, Hotel Varaždin, Šanjek, Verglec, Vila Toplissa, Zlatne gorice, Žmah, Zalogajnica Šanjek, and Kavana Grofica Marica.

The offerings of all restaurants can be found in a separate article.
