Today, a press conference was held at Bistro Familija in Varaždin to present the 7th Days of Flavors of the Varaždin Region.
From March 8th to 17th, visitors will be able to enjoy traditional dishes at 15 selected restaurants in Varaždin County, with specially crafted three-course menus offered at promotional prices of €17 and €23.
Goran Mališ, director of the Varaždin County Tourist Board, greeted the attendees and emphasized that everyone involved will strive to showcase the best of our gastronomy, which is tied to tradition and involves the preparation of dishes using local and authentic traditional ingredients. "This year, the start of the Days of Flavors coincides with Women's Day, making it an excellent opportunity to take your wives, mothers, and especially grandmothers out, reminding them of the dishes they used to prepare."
Project manager Borislav Šimenc highlighted that 12 counties participate in the Flavors of Croatian Tradition project, but only Varaždin County holds this event twice a year. Besides the autumn event, organized at the national level, Varaždin County also celebrates the Days of Flavors in March, now for the seventh time. Šimenc also took the opportunity to announce new activities within this project, including the first Croatian eno-gastronomic route in Varaždin County, set to launch this year.
On behalf of Varaždin County, Deputy Prefect Silvija Zagorec addressed the audience, praising the project and highlighting it as an example of a holistic approach "from field to table," connecting family farms with restaurants to provide visitors with a full sensory experience of local dishes. "We are truly proud of our caterers and chefs who preserve these local dishes from being forgotten, nurturing our tradition and passing it on to younger generations."
On this occasion, the "Flavors of the Varaždin Region" standard label was awarded to an establishment newly participating in the Flavors of Croatian Tradition project: today's host, Bistro Familija. The label was presented to the owner, Ninoslav Biškup, by Silvija Zagorec.
