Restaurant Maki

For more than three decades, based on strong family traditions, Restaurant Maki has been one of the leading establishments in the hospitality and gastronomy scene of Lika. The Lika peasant lunch is one of the synonyms for preparing food "like at home," a style of cooking that is highly sought after and valued today. Restaurants like this one promote the specialties of the indigenous cuisine, which had been forgotten until recently but is now experiencing a resurgence, serving them as daily menu staples. Among the offerings are Lika lamb, prosciutto and cheese, žmare (crisps), kulen (blood sausages with cornmeal), basa (a type of cheese), homemade plum jam and preserves, Lika plum brandy, blueberry rakija, Velebit beer – all served with the friendly smile of the hosts, which never fails to impress the guests.
